FAQs

Is it safe to go to the chiropractor?

Chiropractic is considered to be a very safe, drug-free therapy: studies have shown that spinal manipulation is safer than taking your regular over-the-counter painkillers (paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).*
National Treatment Clinical Practice guidelines in Denmark, the USA, and the UK now endorse spinal manipulation and other non-pharmacological care (massage and exercise) as the first treatment option for low back pain.*

What is an adjustment? Does it hurt? Does it "crack"?

A chiropractic adjustment is the use of a specific force in a precise direction that helps bring back normal spinal function and takes pressure off the nerve root. The chiropractic adjustment helps the spinal bone to regain normal motion, restoring the body's brain-body connection and natural healing potential.

Everybody reacts differently to adjustments, but very few people find them painful. You can be sore after your very first adjustment, the same way you would feel sore after you start working out.

At Bloom Chiropractic we use a wide range of techniques in order to adapt to the preferences and needs of each individual. We, therefore, use techniques with and without “cracks”. The most important thing is that you do not hesitate to share your thoughts and questions during your visit :)

Do I need an adjustment if I'm not in pain?

Most people associate chiropractic care with low back pain or sports injuries, but chiropractic helps with so much more!

Our focus is on the spine because it protects the nervous system, which carries vital communication between your brain and body.
Chiropractic care is a safe and natural approach to better health. Since the nervous system affects our overall function, anyone that is symptom-free can still benefit from chiropractic care in order to achieve their wellness goals.

How often will I need to be adjusted?

Everyone's body is unique and responds in different ways. Your chiropractor will give you a personalised care plan and recommendations based on your consult, past health history, present health, and current exam findings.

Can an adjustment help turn my breech or malpositioned baby?

A chiropractic adjustment using the Webster Technique is not a breech-turning technique. It is a technique that helps to relax the uterine muscles and ligaments in order to create more room in-utero. With more room in the uterus, the baby has a better chance of moving into a more optimal foetal position.

Can children benefit from chiropractic care?

Yes! Kids are very physically active and constantly need to adapt to their growing bodies. Chiropractic is adapted to the individual child, and adjustments are always very gentle.

Why would a baby get adjusted?

The birth process is a beautiful thing, however, the journey from the womb to mum’s arms can often be quite stressful and arduous for baby.
An infant with colic, arching back, difficulty latching/getting comfortable, or erratic sleeping habits can possibly be displaying signs of accumulated stress in the spine. Chiropractic adjustments for infants and babies are extremely gentle and specific.
